Arrangements
Methods and techniques behind vocal arrangements
How do we arrange for a choir? How do we ensure that the characteristics of the music are maintained or how do we completely transform it? How does the arrangement achieve the sound you are looking for? What is the difference between arrangements with and without accompaniment? What is the difference between arrangements for beginners and advanced learners? How do we maintain joy so that all voices enjoy singing what is written? What style do you want to maintain? Classical, pop, jazz?
This course is suitable for musically educated individuals with choir conducting experience, and can be attended in person or online.
The course includes two 90-minute lectures with examples and discussions. This is followed by two hours of reviewing arrangements chosen by those who opt for the second option below.
Two options are available:
-
Attend lectures and ask questions. This is beneficial for professionals who primarily seek to better understand and select arrangements for their groups. It also opens up the possibility of starting to write arrangements yourself.
-
Everything offered in the first option, plus you write an arrangement during the course, which I will advise on and review. The result is a complete arrangement that you can present to your group. A maximum of five people can participate in this part.

Rehearsals
guest conductor
Does your choir or singing group have a practice day, or are you rehearsing for a special occasion?
I can visit and offer a fresh perspective on the material you are working with. Everything is done in accordance with the group's policy and focus, and in collaboration with the group's leader.
Our collaboration can be for one evening, a whole day, or a weekend.

A song becomes music
guest conductor
Does your choir or singing group want to learn a new song or arrangement and make it their own?
We work on rhythm, groove, intonation, sound, interpretation, and stage presence to ensure the outcome is as impressive as possible. Together, we transform a song from paper into music that the group, as musicians, stands by, interprets, and enjoys performing.
Our collaboration can range from two to six hours.

Vocal Painting
VOPA
Would you like to explore the amazing language of Vocal Painting?
VOPA is a sign system, designed by Jim Daus Hjernoe, and is part of a larger methodology known as “The Intelligent Choir”. This system utilizes signs to work on “music of the moment”, such as live arranging, live composing, or altering various aspects of the music. It's all about enhancing the material you're already working with or creating something new. For instance, changing the key or time signature, adding solos, altering the sound of the voice, creating new melodies, and much more, with the system currently comprising around 75 accepted signs.
The sign system is beneficial for choirs and vocal groups in various situations, especially opening up possibilities for the group to collaborate, discovering how each choir member can be a leader in different contexts, and utilizing the musical talents of all choir members. All these are important factors in building conscious choir members who form “The Intelligent Choir”.
In the course, you'll learn about VOPA and how it works in choir activities. You'll learn to recognize and execute a few signs that can be useful for everyone - from children's choirs to professional choirs. You'll explore the versatility of the voice and how to better utilize it in choir activities.
I can teach VOPA as private lessons, but it's most enjoyable as a group session. Let me know of your interest, and I will organize a group as soon as I hear from several people!

Creative Composition
Let´s compose together!
Does your choir or singing group want to learn to compose music together? How do we build a composition, create beautiful melodies, and write appropriate lyrics?
I have extensive experience in guiding people of all ages in music and lyric creation. The method I use has proven very effective for children from the age of 6 and upwards, resulting in successful compositions, including several award-winning pieces.
Are you looking to celebrate an anniversary year with a collaborative project or simply want to try new projects within the group? This is both a fun challenge and an opportunity to unlock the creative potential of all members of the group.

Methodology for Teaching Choir Rehearsals
For Choir Directors, Music Educators, and Students
Do you want to improve your workflow in rehearsals, be better prepared, foresee problems, and have tools to tackle them as they arise? I work according to methodologies known as “New Piece Methodology” and “Known Piece Methodology,” authored by Jesper Holm, a professor in choir rehearsal pedagogy.
-
How do we learn new music and how do we teach it?
-
How do we prevent errors from becoming ingrained within the group and spending time correcting them instead of building up?
-
How do we schedule rehearsals and what do we choose to teach each time?
-
When does a choir truly know the music it's working with?
-
Is there real understanding behind it?
-
How does an instrument support the learning process?
I provide tools to analyze what's happening in each session and find solutions to issues that need addressing.
These topics can be taught both in private lessons and in a group setting. Please let me know if you're interested!
Choir Conducting Technique
For Choir Directors, Music Educators, and Students
Should choirs always be conducted? If so, why, when, and how?
Would you like to review your knowledge in choir conducting techniques, acquire more tools for your toolkit, and feel more confident in conducting various styles of music? Special emphasis is placed on enhancing the techniques you have already learned and use daily.
We will explore how the techniques we use affect the choir's sound, find appropriate techniques to utilize, and consider whether Vocal Painting could aid in choir conducting.
These topics can be taught both in private lessons and in a group setting. Please let me know if you're interested!
